Second Entry

Yeah, I'm not listening to music right now, and yes, I am angry.  Why, you ask?  (Well, you WOULD ask if there was anybody reading this, but since nobody is, I'll assume that somebody somewhere is.)

So why am I angry?  Well...I'm 40 years old.  I just moved home from Texas to take care of my parents (my parents are both in their 70's and neither of them is as mobile as they used to be) and ... well ... they're treating me like I'm in my teens still.  I'm not, I'm 40, thank you very much.

They say that they appreciate my being here, but both of them chose every possible moment to criticize my driving.  "You DO have turn signals on?"  "You ARE going to the library?"  "ACD! (assured clear distance.)"

I've been driving since I was 18.  That's 22 years.  During that time, I've gotten a total of three tickets.  Count 'em ... three.  My LAST was in 1999 (31-OCT) to be exact when I was driving home from my sister's birthday bash.  Let's see ... I'm no mathemetician, but my ... that's nearly 10 years.  What was that one, you ask?  Speed.  I was doing 71 in a 60 mph zone.

However, that's not the point.  My point is that I'm a safe driver.  And no, I don't run stop signs at 2 in the morning when there's no police around.  Why?  Because I've seen too many cars out there with their headlights off.  I've done that too, and know how easy it is to forget that your headlights aren't on.  That's one of the reasons I began driving with my headlights on even in the daytime.  The other reason is that it makes oncoming vehicles easier to see in the daytime.

There are a multitude of other reasons why I'm angry right now, but each one of them stems from my parents treating me like a child.

What's the lesson of this blog entry?  Simple.  Your actions speak louder than your words.  You can tell somebody something ... but when you do the opposite, you show what's REALLY in your heart.  I'm man enough to admit that I've done that too, unfortunately.

Part of being mature is to realize that 1) you have a problem and 2) you make a resolution NOT to repeat the problem/behaviour and 3) you actively CHOSE NOT to repeat the problem/behaviour.

Sometimes that's not easy, I know.  I've been there, too.  But we all have to try to at least better ourselves, otherwise what's the use?

OK...so this particular entry isn't about politics, but ... it's also my blog. :)  The other reason is that since this blog is so new, there's nobody reading it.  (Now at some point in my future you just watch.  Some prospective employer will read this blog and say "I see that on 29-FEB-2008 you wrote about your parents.  Tell me about that.")  Frankly, my parents, my family and my personal life are no damned business of my employer UNLESS they directly influence my work.

Just try telling that to a business.  Business thinks they own the world.  Well ... that's actually the subject of an upcoming blog.  But for now, point your search engine to the word "Bilderberg" and then stand back.

Far back.  Business really DOES rule the world.  Their own documents prove it.

Until later.  Thanks for not reading. :)
