Well, it happened. It is happening as I type this. The market is tanking. There are a few reasons for this, including the corrupt politicians and the greedy business "executives." And let's not forget their lobbyists.
There are a few things you can do to minimize your exposure in these volatile times. First, if you're in the stock market, now is not the time to get out. You'll lose your shirt, your pants, your socks, and possibly your undergarments.
Next, and this is one of those 'duh' moments, cut back on spending. You might not look your best, but you might be able to get another few months from those old shoes. The same with the shirt and/or the pants. Socks and undergarments are, I believe, the exceptions. :)
Since we all need to go grocery shopping, try doing your shopping in one trip instead of several smaller ones. This might take a bit of planning, but make a list of what you need and where you can get it. As an example: Cat litter (Sam's Club.) Or Milk (Grocery store.) Check your list before you leave and be sure to check off what you've gotten as you get it.
Next, make sure your vehicle has had its maintenance. (This includes filters, fluids, etc.) Unlike Barack Obama's suggesting that this is the way to beat the high price of fuel, I know this won't. But it will help, and at this point every little bit will help. Make sure also that your tires are properly inflated.
Obey the speed limit (yes, another 'duh' moment.) You'll use a lot more fuel on the freeway at 75mph instead of obeying the speed limit of 60. It'll take you longer to get there, yes. But you'll use less fuel. (This also applies to you idiots on the 670 outerbelt. SLOW DOWN! There's no reason or excuse for you to go 100mph. You know who you are.)
This next one is going to get me into trouble, but also cut back on eating out. Think of it this way: If you spend $10 a day on lunch that's $50 for a five-day work week. Assuming four weeks to a month, that's $200. Pack a lunch and take it with you.
For people with children, make them earn their allowance (if they have one.) Schools these days have fallen flat on teaching children how to budget. They're too busy teaching political correctness and proper sexual techniques. And let's not forget the global warming hysteria (see my earlier postings on this. Yes, the Earth is warming. NO, it's not entirely manmade. Anybody who tells you differently is ignoring quite a few "inconvenient truths.") In spite of the horrible example that the corrupt politicians have given, money does not grow on trees.
And now I'm going to get in the most trouble I've ever been in. The Republicans, while sharing some of the blame, are not the only ones responsible for the mess we're in now. If you're going to blame the Republicans (and they do deserve a share of it) you must also blame the Democrats, the media (see my earlier post about the liberal media,) the corrupt business "executives" and the lobbyists. There's plenty of blame to go around here. President Bush does deserve blame, I'm not denying that.
But absolutely do not delude yourself into believing that the Democrats are blameless. The facts are clear and they clearly state otherwise. Read for yourselves the facts. Take your rose-coloured glasses off and you'll see much better.
