More Suspected ACORN Fraud

I had to put "suspected" in there because these allegations have yet to be proven. But, since ACORN (as I linked to earlier) has a 10-year pattern of FRAUD, I think it's safe to say that these charges will be validated.
ACORN, you'll remember, stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. According to their Wikipedia entry as of this writing, they are referred to as "...a left-wing community organization..." And I do apologize for how small the image is. I'm still learning this new blogging service. We'll see if I can figure it out. :)
The Wikipedia entry also says this: "ACORN says it is non-partisan, but it has a political committee that endorses Democratic candidates and is often aligned with the Democratic Party on policy." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACORN
But that's not the point. " “For some reason, Jennifer Brunner [Ohio's Secretary of State - a Democrat] does not want these new registrations checked,” said Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine. “Her refusal to comply with federal law raises serious concerns about her ability to objectively oversee this election. It’s especially troubling in light of her connection to ACORN and that group’s stunning confession this week of fraudulent registration activity happening right here in Ohio.” (emphasis added)
Brunner’s effort to fight the court order comes just two days after the Democrat activist group ACORN admitted to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections that the group engages in fraudulent voter registration activity." (emphasis added)
So, here we have a group with a 10-year record of voter fraud. According to the article I just quoted from (which is a press release from the Ohio GOP) ACORN admitted to fraudulent voter registration activity in Cuyahoga County (that's the Cleveland area.)
But if you remember, Barack Obama says he has no ties to ACORN. Indeed, his site www.fightthesmears.com says that Obama never worked for ACORN as a Community Organizer, was never an ACORN trainer, and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity http://fightthesmears.com/articles/20/acornrumor It also goes on to say that ACORN was not part of Project Vote. There's just one slight problem.
None of that is true. http://sweetness-light.com/archive/obama-claims-he-never-worked-for-acorn From the Chicago Reader 8-DEC-1995 (by Hank De Zutter.) "...
Another strong supporter of Obama's work--as an organizer, as a lawyer, and now as a candidate--is Madeline Talbott, lead organizer of the feisty ACORN community organization, a group that's a thorn in the side of most elected officials. "I can't repeat what most ACORN members think and say about politicians. But Barack has proven himself among our members. He is committed to organizing, to building a democracy. Above all else, he is a good listener, and we accept and respect him as a kindred spirit, a fellow organizer."
Obama continues his organizing work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the south side. Conducting a session in a New Horizons classroom, Obama, tall and thin, looks very much like an Ivy League graduate student. Dressed casually prep, his tie loosened and his top shirt button unfastened, he leads eight black women from the Grand Boulevard community through a discussion of "what folks should know" about who in Chicago has power and why they have it." Here's a direct link to that article: http://www.chicagoreader.com/features/stories/archive/barackobama/
So...what do we know? Well, we know that according to Madeline Talbott, who was a lead organizer at ACORN, Barack Obama had proven himself among their members.
FACT: Barack Obama was a member of ACORN.
We also know that Barack was continuing his work "...largely through classes for future leaders..." and that "...he leads eight black women ... through a discussion of "what folks should know" ... " So we know he lead a class
FACT: Barack Obama was a member of ACORN and lead a class for "future leaders."
But then we come to the last of Obama's lies, the "Fact" that ACORN is not part of Project Vote.
Really? The New York Times says otherwise:
""I get about 30 new voters or changes of address in six hours," said Ms. Green, who was hired by Project Vote, the nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or Acorn. "I used to get 16 in 45 minutes, but now everyone's registered." " Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/26/politics/campaign/26vote.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
How about Time Magazine? "Or even keep track of them: at several houses where Lindquist stopped that afternoon, the registered voter had moved without leaving a phone number or forwarding address. "We don't bring 300 kids from Ohio State University into the inner city of Columbus," says David Leland, national director of Project Vote, a nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which claims it has registered more than 50,000 voters in the Columbus area." Link: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,995417-5,00.html
Indeed, Project Vote and ACORN, according to their Federal 990 Form have the same physical address. They have the same phone number. And they share advertisments.
So let's review Obama's "Facts"
1) Obama says that he never worked for ACORN in any capacity and was not a trainer. We just proved that was a LIE.
2) Obama says he was never a Community Organizer for ACORN. Again, we just proved that that too was a LIE.
3) Obama says that ACORN was not part of Project Vote. But according to Time Magazine and the New York Times, Project Vote is part of ACORN.
Oops. Keep lying Obama, we'll keep digging up the truth.
